The TIR System for international transport of goods

TIR System is an international customs transit system, the only transit system in which goods are transported from their country of origin to the destination country in sealed shipment packaging with recognition of customs control along the entire route.

The advantage of the TIR system is the minimization of administrative and financial obligations and customs duties, which in it are covered by an international guarantee.

Members of the TIR system

As of 2010, the system has 68 members, including the European Union. The list of countries that have signed the convention covers countries from four continents. Many other countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and South America have shown interest in joining it.

The system operates in 58 countries, one country is in the accession process, and another three countries are in the negotiation period.

Carriers TIR

These documents are international transit documents, granting the right to transport goods across borders. They cover road and multimodal transport of goods between individual countries. Carnets are issued by the national guaranteeing association (association), which is authorized for this by the competent authorities of the respective country. They are booklets from which pages are torn when goods pass through successive customs offices.

One carnet can have at most 20 such pages, which allows transportation through up to 10 countries, including the country of origin and the destination country.

AskTIR

AskTIR is a system for managing TIR carnets from order to delivery of goods and then back to return them and the subsequent administrative procedures.

AskTIRweb

AskTIRweb is a web application, which is the successor to AskTIR. This is a mandatory system for managing TIR carnets for all new TIR associations before their admission.

Check the status and validity of TIR carnets

Checking TIR carnets, their real-time status and their validity at any time is performed through the system SafeTIR. For customs officers, the Real-Time SafeTIR system provides up-to-date information on the status and validity of the carnets.
